Traditional softwood timber sleepers 2. 4m long railway sleepers.

These are large sawn cut rectangle sleepers.

The sleepers have an attractive golden brown colour that can turn slightly grey over time due to the treatment used on the timber, however, these sleepers can be easily stained to suit your needs. These new sawn sleepers tended to have straighter edges than reclaimed timber sleepers making them easier to stack. It is possible to cut the sleepers using a circular saw, chainsaw or a handsaw however please bear in mind that any newly exposed cut surfaces will need treating with a wood preservative. All our sleepers are Green tantalised treated, tantalising the timber ensures deep penetration of the wood preservative into the timber cells for long-lasting protection against fungal decay, insect attack and rotting caused by water. Tantalised wood has a green colouration initially which will fade to a honey brown and finally to a grey. The treatment protects the fence posts from contact with the ground and will prevent rotting for up to 15 years.
